5th Sheppey - Eastchurch

Welcome to 5th Sheppey Scout Group.

Our Scout HQ is based at the entrance of Dicksons Field - Eastchurch, down Dicksons Walk, Just off the High Street ME12 4DF, behind the Dentist.

Eastchurch is ripe with history, it is the birth place of the Royal Flying Core.  Flight in the UK started at Muswell Manor, Shellness and after 8 months moved up to Sandpits Farm in Eastchurch which is now the home of HMP Standford Hill, Swaleside and Elmley.

The Isle of Sheppey is situated at the mouth of the River Thames in the county of Kent.  Some fifty miles south east of London, at 31 sq miles and with a population of over 36,000 and is approximately 9 miles long by 5 miles wide.  It is connected to the mainland by two bridges.  The Sheppey Crossing was opened in July 2006 and is the island's first fixed link with the mainland.  The old Kingsferry Bridge is a lifting bridge, it is still in use and the railway line also crosses this bridge.  Sheerness is a commercial port and the main town of the Isle of Sheppey.

Cubs meet on a Wednesday night and Beavers and Scouts meet on a Thursday night.

Scouting gives young people, morals, standards and Skills 4 Life through scouting activities.
